Lavinton shoulder of lamb wins 3-star Great Taste Award

Here at Lavinton Lamb we’re very excited to announce that our shoulder of Hebridean cross lamb has won a three-star Great Taste award, one of only 141 products to achieve this highest gastronomic honour.

This is the ultimate accolade in the UK’s most prestigious food awards, run by the Guild of Fine Foods, so it is an extremely big deal and we are thrilled that all our hard work using extensively farmed native breeds to produce the best tasting lamb has been recognised.

GTA 2016

The Great Taste Awards are the acknowledged benchmark of fine food and drink, described as the food Oscars – the logo is “the sign you can trust when buying food and drink in your local quality retailer”.

Here’s what the judges said about our Lavinton Hebridean cross shoulder of lamb:

“deeply flavoursome, excellent quality and just wonderful. We would like to finish it but feel we ought to share!”

Our Lavinton Lamb shoulder was the only lamb product to win the three-star award.

In total 10,000 products were entered into the Great Taste Awards 2016,  out of which just 141 were given three-star awards, so this represents an outstanding achievement for Lavinton Lamb. Out of all the products entered, just 35% were accredited, with 878 foods earning two stars and 2,520 one star.
